The United States of America is the #1 importer of hemp products, textiles, and foods worldwide, yet, it is illegal to grow hemp in the United States. Why?
Industrial hemp is legally grown in over 30 countries worldwide. Each year the U.S. Government identifies those countries it considers to be drug-exporting nations. None of the major hemp-growing and exporting nations have ever been listed.
The founding fathers of the United States, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, all grew or processed hemp, aware of it's many applications and exceptional qualities. Hemp was also grown as part of a patriotic war effort during World War II, producing over 1 million acres.
It is clear that the U.S. Federal Government knows the distinction between marijuana and hemp, just as there is a difference between bread-seed poppies and opium poppies. Hemp is not marijuana. Hemp is a non-psycoactive species of the plant cannabis sativa.
For too many years the governments prohibition laws and suppression of information has resulted in virtually no public knowledge of the incredible potential of the hemp plant. Ask why. Stand up. Be heard. Vote. Change the system.
